The Great Drug Class

An Alcohol Drug Class is a great way to understand exactly what toxic chemicals can do to an individual. Now, if you have a problem with alcohol or drugs it is likely that you won’t be attending these classes. There is something strong about the mechanism of denial that doesn’t allow those who do have a problem to see exactly what their behavior is doing. However, if you have a loved one with an alcohol or drug problem these classes may be extremely beneficial to understand what you can and cannot effect. Often those surrounding the alcoholic or drug addict are left feeling helpless. They are sometimes overwhelmed with the inability to save those they care for. A class such as this can provide insight into your role in this desperate dynamic. Not to mention that you may meet other individuals who are in a similar situation and thus find yourself a valuable support group.

Wine of the Month Club

A wine of the month club is a great option for people to use that are not very familiar with the different types of wines. By having a wine of the month, wine tasters are able to try something featured each month that has been rated well by others. The typical wine of the month club consists of a group of people who don’t have time or money to try all the different types of wines. By featuring one each month, all the club members are able to see what is recommended by others. The type of wine tasted varies from month to month. It may include red or white or it may be an exclusive club. The clubs are normally found at vineyards or high class restaurants although there are a few private organizations known. Being a member of a wine club myself, it is nice to be able to get the best of the best without having to guess or ask the waiter who may or may not know.

Construction in Buenos Aires, Argentina

On my work today I was noticing how much construction is going on in Las Canitas, my neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My commute consists of a 5 minute walk, but just in those 5 minutes this morning I counted 6 different apartment buildings under construction. It is amazing to me because in much of the world new construction is down a lot because of poor economic conditions, but in Argentina that is not the case. Argentina I sone of the richest Latin American countries, which shows by how many luxury wine tastings in Buenos Aires there are.

One thing that is different about the construction workers here is that they always have an asado during their lunchtime. This is highly inefficient and some might say a waste of time in the middle of a workday, but that is how it is here. Sometimes I even see the workers tasting beer or wine with their meat. It is unlikely they are doing a formal wine tasting, but to them drinking Malbec with beef is holy and cannot be skipped even when at work.

I wonder if that is safe for the workers to be drinking alcohol and than working with heavy equipment and machinery? A few months ago I almost got hit by a falling crane at a construction site near our office, and possibly it was because they had drunk too much wine at their asado. I doubt we will ever know at this point though. That is one of the great mysteries of recent Buenos Aires history actually. I have heard rumors that the government is considering building a museum to that falling crane, which would be great for tourism since it would create a new attraction in the city.

Online Wine Club

Finding an online wine club certainly isn’t hard. Google gives you around two and a half million results for the term, but how do you know which one is the right one for you and your family? Reviews which are placed online can either be a great source of information, or virtually worthless since there are so many paid reviews happening of late. So how do you choose your online wine club? Start by looking at the big companies who generally have a few different selections. Uncorked Ventures is family owned and has three clubs existing in higher price points than some of their competitors while major media companies such as the New York Times and Chicago Tribune now have wine clubs of their own, both of which offer wine for as little as five dollars per bottle with shipping included in that price, making them outstanding deals for cheap wine.
