Invitation

The 21^st World Congress of the International Federation for Home economics, as we are well aware, is a monumental milestone in the IFHE´s 100 year history. It is certainly a meaningful and touching feeling to come once again to Switzerland to commemorate our Centennial Anniversary, since our Federation was founded in 1908 in Fribourg, Switzerland.

On behalf of IFHE, I am highly honored to invite all of you to this memorable event of historical significance to beheld in Lucerne, Switzerland from July 26 to August 1^st, 2008.

There will be a Centenary Celebration at the Opening Ceremony followed by the special session of the IFHE History Book and DVD launch. The theme of the congress, <<Home Economics: Reflecting the Past - Creating the Future>> will thoroughly reflect upon our historical roots and also, deliberate the position of home economics as well as home economics professions at present and for the future.

Also planned are well thought out plenary sessions and programme committees`workshops. At the current sessions, hundreds of excellent papers prepared by distinguished scholars and young promising scientists will be presented either in oral or poster forms. For the first time at the congress, we plan to have special forums for new members, organisational members and young professionals. In addition, the Swiss Organising Committee is planning a wonderful surprise for all participants to cherish the everlasting historic congress.

I hope all of you can join and experience this unprecedented and landmark event. I am looking forward to seeing you in 2008 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
